Skye's the limit!

Maybe there is a case after all for Berwick-upon-Tweed to rejoin Scotland, as it might have to replace the Isle of Skye, which seems to have declared UDI.

The Boundary Commission for Scotland has published its draft proposals for new boundaries for Scottish Parliamentary constituencies. But if you look at the maps provided, the Isle of Skye doesn't seem to feature in any of the three Highland seats. Whoops!

I wondered if it had wandered off to join the Western Isles but it doesn't seem to be found there either.

Actually, from a Lib Dem perspective, I assume joining Skye to the Western Isles as a parliamentary constituency would be a welcome move as it quickens the chances of an eventual Lib Dem win there without causing any of the remaining Lib Dem safe seats to suffer.

Yes, I also looked at Argyll and Bute as well in case it was there.
I have to say, the proposed changes seem not bad from a Lib Dem point of view. East Highland seems to be Danny Alexander's Westminster seat but without the area around Loch Ness. The addition of Lochaber to West Highland and the loss of the Black Isle may make that a little trickier for the LDs, but I think overall it should still be OK (assuming Skye is actually part of this seat). And on paper I think North Highland is likely to be a bit safer for us.

FWIW, I think the East Highland seat will remain SNP at Holyrood...but they need to sort out their local organization if they want to hold on to it in less favorable times.

They also remain rubbish at local PR although I guess they have a smaller pool of supporters to call on to pay for this than the UK parties.

Is it me or does the Boundary Commission's website respond as though it was sent from a server that was cutting edge in 1982?
